After twenty years experience honing both technical and industry specialities, Phil found himself in a rather niche role. While he had job security and a senior title, his teams’ workload was consistently increasing while headcount was reduced by upper management - leading to what he felt was inadequate work and no time to help his staff learn from their mistakes.
“I’m all about accountability, and grow further and further disillusioned with the current culture. I have achieved my numbers for the past eight years but I’m extremely tired and feel unappreciated. My current morale is at an all time low. My job has affected my personal life. I need to break free and be happy. I need to find a new job or career — or my marriage will be over and I’ll stay miserable.”
For the first time in his career, Phil reached out for help, and began working with KaptivateMe’s Coach Kate to address next steps not only in his career, but also in his life in general. To take a step back and see what’s working or not, dream big about all areas of life, and take accountable actions to renewed confidence and wellbeing.
After using a variety of exercises to help identify a variety of careers suited for Phil, Kate supported him in developing his pitch, messaging, resume and cover letter to suit; tackling the “getting the job strategy;” and preparing for interviewing and negotiations. How to be picky about the next role, and have alignment with company culture, was a big focus.
“Kate, I had a great interview with the COO of {global software company} yesterday. I felt really good. She told me, 'Phil, your resume is fantastic. I love the format you utilized!' The resume really enhanced the opportunity. The resume documented everything they are looking for she said! Thank you for everything!”
Phil consistency put himself out into the world, networked, applied for roles, pitched himself, interviewed around, and just five months after starting coaching, secured exactly the role with the type of company he was looking for.
“Kate, I just accepted the job offer and my new title is Director of ... It has a catchy ring to it! I really like my boss and the culture - everyone gets along! Thanks again for everything you did for me.”
